• How do we secure our date? •
To secure your date, a non-refundable retainer of 30% is required by BACS payment. Your remaining balance is due 4 weeks before your wedding day.
I endeavour to meet all my couples before they book with me as it is vital that we are a great match for each other. I’ll be with you throughout a very special day so we need to be certain that we get on wonderfully.
• What would be your dream wedding to photograph? •
One full of love, flowers and happiness! I adore bright open spaces, rooms which you’ve styled to suit your ambiance, thoughtful details, flowers (again and again and again), a romantic, elegant and timeless air, a venue with features that you love, somewhere uncluttered to hang your dress (if you have one), a veil, beautiful stationery, confetti on confetti on confetti, sharing platters and banquet tables, desserts aplenty and cheerful guests. I love big windows for natural light that shines on your face rather than on the back of your head, I adore couples that will head out into the night with me to take evening portraits using both ambient and flash light. Greenery, foliage and nature are always a pleasure but there is also real beauty and opportunity in an urban landscape.
• What should we expect from you on our wedding day? •
A calming professional presence with an organised, meticulous approach and a happy and warm persona. I am prepared for all weathers (bring on the rain!) and love a confetti shot. I am confident with people and arranging group shots, I appreciate that guests will want to mingle so do these efficiently but also pay close attention to detail.
I will give direction and guide you during couple portraits as I find that most couples prefer to know where to place their hands or where to look at certain points. My couple portrait session are short and scattered throughout the day to give you a break, tell the story of your day and give depth and variety to images.
• What makes you special? •
Oooooh, now this is where I am supposed to blow my own trumpet – which can be a bit uncomfortable but here goes! I am extremely hardworking, I love weddings and engaging with people I haven’t met before is one of my talents. All this gives me a great grounding to create those open, honest beautiful photos that you see in my galleries. When you are comfortable and trust your photographer, it is palpable and makes all the difference to you on the day and when you see your gorgeous images.
• Why would we need a second photographer? •
A second photographer is a great idea for plenty of reasons. It is likely that you are getting ready at different venues so this way you can document both of your mornings.
You are able to see your ceremony from different angles, catch more of those unposed candid guest moments especially for weddings with 50 + guests as well as having more variety in your couple portraits. We can be in different places at the same time, so one of us might be with the newlyweds while the other is mingling with your guests or taking detail shots of the venue.
A second photographer is also a great help during the evening portraits as they can help me with my lighting equipment and fixing your outfits.
• What are the benefits of an online gallery? •
The online gallery is beautiful. It shows off your images clearly, is intuitive and user-friendly. You are able to download the whole gallery or single images. As a couple, you have the power to hide images as well should you wish to. You are also able to order prints directly from the online gallery.
It is easy to share your images with your guests and others by sending a link and password – super simple.
You can access your gallery on your phone or laptop too. There is no need for a USB to hand around and risk losing or damaging. Your gallery is live for 6 months which gives you and your loved ones plenty of time to access and download.
• To where do you travel? •
I love to travel all over! Locations over 75 miles away incur a standard travel charge and may require you to provide accommodation the night before and/or after. I am based in the East Midlands so I am within easy reach of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire and Staffordshire as well as being very close to an airport. I also speak Spanish to a decent level (I taught it for many years) and can get by in French and Portuguese, so keep that in mind for those of you looking at a destination wedding. A little language goes a long way!
• What do your couples and guests say about you? •
• Why is a pre-wedding shoot a good idea? •
This a lovely way to spend some time with your partner, in the build up to your wedding day. It’s a 45 minute session where we walk about, take a few photos, talk a little and laugh a lot. It is a good way to get to know me if you are nervous about having your photo taken – or even if you’re not!
Some couples use their images on a signing frame on their wedding day, others use them as save the dates, a few have had a summer wedding so have booked their pre-wedding shoot for a different season to add variety to the professional images. It is completely up to you.
Pre-wedding portraits take place at venues within an hour drive of my location on weekdays between 10am and finishing by 2pm, so a perfect reason to take some time off and relax with the one you love (and me, with my camera).
